Nigel MottParticipant
A big shoutout to Raj for the AA class win! Nicely done Sir…
Nigel MottParticipant@ Andy D: Chicago box. Middle cone. Clipped it, but enough to push it out. You would not have heard it, or seen it, because you were into the right hander
@ Aaron: Dang…. your car is planted. Very smooth. But I still think the S2000 is the most evil car on the planet… They always seem to want to kill you.
Big shout out to Philip Blacklock for breaking 50 seconds in an ‘A’ car. I rode with him on his second run. If you ever want to experience real time dynamic car control, I strongly suggest a ride with Phil. Totally impressive car control. If I wasn’t so scared, I’d have screamed the whole way round…
Nigel MottParticipantHi Chris
Manual or SMG? There seems to be a lot of posts around SMG and most of them are of the unhappy kind.Nigel MottParticipantNice lines and smooth hands Andy. Very nice..!
Nigel MottParticipantWeren’t you stuck with some old, fat, hooptie of a BMW at TDS…. 😉
Hoping to reclaim my 2/10th of a second from you at 2018 TDS. Well driven, Sir!
Nigel MottParticipantHey Dave. I know Chris Fountain was 3.5 secs faster. It was around 2 seconds for me. I guess we all got smarter since TDS….
Joking apart it has to be differences in the course. It’s hard to assign the delta to things such as temperature. I think Chris mentioned the finish was in a different location and I found the kink prior to the big sweeper at the far end much easier than TDS.
Nigel MottParticipantVery interesting course! I’d like to give a shout out to Baron and Phil for their wins against extremely good competition! Also a tip of the hat to Brian Cheung for killing it with a 45.8 in a AA car! (Wow!) To borrow a phrase from Markus – Full to the brim with awesome!
Nigel MottParticipantNever mind.. Found them on facebook. Nice shots – thanks for sharing!
Nigel MottParticipantHey Dennis. Would love to see some more pics. The one of Matt is great, but the link appears to be broken. Or is it just me…?
Nigel MottParticipantI fear Dave is all coned out after the epic 1.1 mile ‘Megacross’ at Crows… 🙂
Nigel MottParticipantHey Guys. Thanks for all the kind words. Our time error was 0.13 seconds against a target of 54:00.000 minutes, yielding an average speed of 99.996mph. Kudos to Chris for his speed control, especially during the long downhill run into the finish. We do not have our speed trap result yet, but we believe we were up around 121mph. The maximum speed, called ‘tech speed,’ allowed for the 100mph class is 124mph.
This a totally unique event and I would absolutely recommend it. It does require an investment of time (5-6 days) and money (a bit higher than a GGC HPDE week-end.) Car preparation is similar to HPDE, but with a couple of differences.
I’ll write an article for a future eBombe to explain a bit more about the event.
Chris and I are already discussing competing in the fiercely contested 110mph class next year (30th anniversary) and it would be great if GGC had additional representation..!
Nigel MottParticipantBe fast Brian…! Will miss you guys. Chris and I are in Nevada to run the Silver State Classic on Sunday.
Nigel MottParticipantJust because they are made of plastic, Dmitry, don’t think that cones don’t have feelings. Sometimes they don’t fit in. Sometimes a cone just needs to be alone…
Nigel MottParticipantI’d like to give a shout out to Brian for the A class win.. That’s a competitive group!
Nigel MottParticipantHey Andy. 50.1 in car you had never driven before was very respectable! That time stacks up pretty well in AA. Hope to see the M3 back soon.
