I think the rule An provided should apply. Honestly, I have no recollection of this situation ever coming up until this past event. After you mentioned it to me Paul, I walked out to the workers and pointed it out and they fixed it.

I’m open to suggestions on course worker training. Last season I started the pre-session briefing hoping a fresh review of the duties right before going out would clarify any ambiguity. It takes time and I feel it still has value, but we sometimes have issues with downed cones being missed. I think one group on Saturday had quite a few re-runs for this reason.

I provide this link in the confirmation e-mail and suggest new folks go thru it.

    http://www.rmsolo.org/rmsoloschool/index.html

Even though it’s not exactly the way our events run, the information is relevant and compliments the encyclopedia of stuff I send out in the confirmation e-mail. Everything anyone needs to know is provided in this e-mail and if it’s not in there, I link them to outside documents/posts on the forum that fill in the blanks. I cannot force people to read it, however.

If I/we can do a better job of getting the information out there, I’m very open to new ideas. One just came to mind… perhaps I need to print a sheet of course worker guidelines to hand out to new folks at registration.

Maybe we need to make a 5 minute video to point people to. I kinda like that idea too.

Thanks everyone… Welcome Andrew! You made the right choice jumping right in.

Dave is right, the rotation for next weekend is:

Run group 1: Car classes AA & C – This group will DRIVE FIRST and WORK SECOND
Run group 2: Car classes AAA & B – This group will DRIVE SECOND and WORK THIRD
Run group 3: Car classes A & GONZO – This group will DRIVE THIRD and WORK FIRST

We have a fairly low count signed up as of today so we’re looking at 8 official runs (1 being practice) and I’m sure plenty of time for fun runs at the end of the day = more seat time for your GGC dollar.

You will have a blast and I look forward to meeting you on Saturday.
Hey Tristan, you’re welcome to co-drive mine. It’s AA class though but it probably doesn’t really matter for you.

    -Brian
It matters to the rest of us in AA! 🙂 I’d suggest since Tristan is only coming to a couple events this season that he seriously consider running as a non-compete in whatever group he ends up in. This way the regulars battling it out for trophies won’t get hosed on points for the season.

His mAd SkiLlz are futzing up the bell curve. 🙂

I’ve learned if you hit the New Topic tab, even if you’re in a subforum, the new topic is created in the top level Driving Events forum. I myself have done this a few times. I’ve asked the admins if they can change that page functionality to default to the forum you’re reading at the time, but in the future just double check the category drop-down to make sure it says “autocross” instead of “driving events.”

Thanks Brad for starting this thread. It was a big day for us with so many new people and such a large crowd, but the experience and willingness of everyone to pitch in and help where needed ensured we had a smooth day. Course tear-down and packing up at the end of the day went very quickly. Everyone did an outstanding job at this event!

The team worked really hard on pre-event planning and course design and setup for this one due to the variable nature of the site and I think the course was very fun, safe, and mostly friendly to race suspended cars – all things considered. I filed off some more of my front air dam on the “bowl” around worker station 5, but hey, more front ground clearance is a good thing.

I feel like I know every inch of The Stick after spending three days with the Club there. The staff at SF Parks & Rec were very accommodating of our needs all weekend and really treated us well.

To those of you who found driving the course a challenging experience… practice, practice, practice! Watch our club calendar and e-blasts for an announcement about the October Car Control Clinic registration open date. It is there that you will learn valuable skills to help you be better drivers on the street, but also explore concepts that greatly enhance your autocross experience. Several of us also instruct for that program so if you tell us you want to improve your autocross driving, we’ll tailor our teaching to help you with that. These clinics fill up fast… the last one sold out in 5 days, so register early.

Thanks again to all of you who joined us this weekend! We are very hopeful that some of the new folks will join us at Marina for future events. If you’ve never been, you must make the trek down to experience our home site.

Damn, that was a fun three runs! That car has it all… exceptional handling, go power, and stop power. Thanks Dave!

Thanks Jack, and to all of you who stuck around to help pack up at the end of the day. Setting up in the morning when you’re fresh is one thing… packing up at the end of the day when you’re wiped out is quite another. I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate your help!

I love how the tire smoke drifts in thru the driver window and out the passenger side.
