Jeff RobertsParticipant
I’ve taken care of that when processing final season standings and will post a modified sheet tonight.
Jeff RobertsParticipantIt’s official – TDS is Sunday November 5th. Stay tuned for more details as we decide on timeline and format. Less daylight may require some adjustments.
Jeff RobertsParticipantWe saw it, Joe. Ryan updated the system and I set your number to 981 for you.

Minimal differences
Jeff RobertsParticipantThe Star Specs ZIIs are good… before the Bridgestone RE71R came out, it was a very popular autocross tire as were the Z1s. Problem is, if road noise matters to you, none of the choices you have will be quiet dual-duty tires.
Bummer your Style 22’s are 7.5″ wide. If they were 8.0″ wide you could move up to a 245 wide tire and have all kinds of choices.
The close-out tires are fresh-ish, so sitting on them for a few months won’t matter much.

This one is Norcal E36 Parts
Jeff RobertsParticipantIf you’re on Facebook, there are some groups – including the Chapter’s – where you can ask for or find used parts.
If you’re not on and want me to post a query for you, I’d be happy to. Let me know if it’s front or rear that you need.
Jeff RobertsParticipantIf a shop will weld a cracked wheel, I’d avoid going there. It’s too important of a part and no way of knowing what else might have been compromised in the incident that cracked it.
I’m sure you can find a used replacement that’s in good shape, or only has cosmetic damage. I have had wheels straightened and polished at Rite-Way Wheel. They do meticulous work and will not weld wheels.
Jeff RobertsParticipantHi Bryce –
I have your license. I’ll e-mail you about it.Jeff
Jeff RobertsParticipantHi Tim –
We don’t check those during tech. If we required it, I don’t think we’d have a single E36 M3 allowed to participate. 🙂It’s a good idea to get that working at some point, however.
The online documentation and event registration writeup and confirmation e-mail include the checklist…
Tech Inspection Checklist
Verify all the following conditions are met before arriving at the event. Our tech
inspectors will check your car and put a sticker on your windshield to indicate it
passed. If your car does not pass, you will not be allowed to drive it and no
refund will be given.
1. BATTERY IS SECURELY MOUNTED – THIS IS OUR #1 FAILURE
POINT! Only factory battery hold-downs are accepted.
2. Wheels are safely attached and exhibit no cracks. Wheel nuts/bolts are
tightened to the manufacturer’s recommended torque value.
3. All loose items are removed from the vehicle. If a video camera is employed, it
is securely mounted. If your floor mats are not secured with Velcro or snaps,
remove them.
4. Tires show no cords, belts, or cracks in the tread or sidewall.
5. Seat belts and/or harnesses are properly installed and in good condition.
6. Brakes are in good working order, have no leaks under pressure, and have
adequate fluid in the master cylinder.
7. No fluid leaks (fuel, oil, coolant, power steering fluid, transmission and
differential fluids, brake fluid) are present while the vehicle’s engine is running.
8. Wheel bearings, steering mechanism, suspension, and shocks are in good
operating condition.
9. The exhaust is in good working order.
10. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory for drivers. No open-toed shoes, sandals or
“flip-flops” are allowed on course.
11. Roll bars, if installed, are properly and securely mounted.Jeff RobertsParticipantHi Don –
I have language about excluding SUV/SAV type vehicles on the MSR event registration page in the top section, but you’re right, I did not include that in any of the other documentation. I’ve updated the home page of bmwautocross.com to include that language now and I’ll work on updating the PDFs and have them pushed out.Sorry about that.
Jeff RobertsParticipantI liked it too… very easy to spot. Let me know if we should buy more – finally found a place with the 12″ in lime green!
I’ll share this thread on FB too.
Jeff RobertsParticipantI’ve had mine replaced after an altercation with a deer. The kind of cracking you describe does need to be fixed… you can be cited by law enforcement for it, if they notice and want to make the effort.
When I had mine done, I inquired around about alternate glass options and was told to stick with OE glass. It’s expensive, something like $1100 IIRC, so make an insurance claim and pay your deductible if less than that. I’m pretty sure it would be a comprehensive claim, no rate hike. Inquire at a dealer – my reading suggests they do the best work.
I had mine done at Caliber Collision, formerly B-Line. They used OE glass and brought in a specialist. My only complaint on the glass part of the work they did is the rubber seal visible on the outside doesn’t seem to fit as snugly as the original and causes minor wind noise at speed.
We’d love to see you back out there, Brad! Be warned, one must get signed up within the few couple hours of reg opening… the June event sold out in just over 3 hours.
Jeff RobertsParticipantHi Scott –
Sorry no one responded to you. When a group goes to dinner, of course everyone is welcome. As of late we have not been doing dinner as everyone has been tired and not hungry. I think the massive sandwiches are catching up with most of us.Part of the problem too has been a lack of places in Marina that can accommodate a larger group. Some of our go-to places have closed down.
Good to see you out there racing the M3!
Jeff RobertsParticipantThe software we use is SCCA/PAX centric and currently cannot apply our TDS formula.
PAX is a simple multiplier, whereas our forumla requires the individual’s points to be applied. The team is working on the code to try to update it to show TDS adjusted times.
