Also, if you are an x-class driver and do not have a BMW buddy to let you co-drive their car at the event, you may sign up as a non-driver and join us for the bbq lunch. If we do not sell all of the 60 driver spots, I will contact all of the non-driver guests in the order you registered and ask if you’d like to come and drive for fun. I’ll fill the spots until we have 60 drivers.

Last season we allowed non-BMWs to come for fun from the start, but that was because participation was way down. This season was much the opposite so we went back to the original formula for the TDS. I hope our x-class folks understand.

You are looking at the wrong event. You will see TWO events in your dashboard on MSR.

    BMWCCA-GGC Autocross – Top Driver Shootout 2013
This is the event you registered for and it will be yellow and show a status of “New” until I confirm you. This event is hidden, so anyone trying to register who did not click on the link in the invitation e-mail WILL NOT SEE IT available. This is an invite only event, so you MUST click the link in the e-mail.

Invite For Top Driver Shootout 2013
This is a dummy event I created so I could e-mail all of the eligible folks using MSR. You will not see a list of registered people. It too will show a status of “New” but you cannot interact with it because it’s a dummy event. I cannot make it invisible to you because you’re on the list for it. Fugetaboutit!!

    Charlie –
You may classify as many cars as you want to in the system, but only one can be active at a time. I suggest you go thru the classification again and see how the 2nd one points out.

I don’t see any points for shocks – are you running stock shocks? Rear sway bar should only be selected if you’re not running an adjustable spring setup.

Looking at your data, I suspect you classed as AAA and chose to run in Gonzo using the “Want to run your car in a higher or non-competitive class? Select it here” feature. Doing so shows you in the list as Gonzo with the minimum points for the class which is 80. But looking at your details shows the actual points you classed with. I’ve looked at others I know of who run in a higher class than their car points out as and they show the same way.

I will mention this to Kris and Matt as it seems we should add some notation to the details view that indicates this for clarity.

For TDS your actual points will be used when adjusting times, so we ask that everyone be certain to verify they are properly classed before registration closes.

    Exactly!

We’re trying this out this time. I am shopping for an FM transmitter so people can listen in their cars during the event. This won’t happen before this weekend, but it’s been on my list of things to get for the program.

If anyone has a recommendation, let me know. I know other clubs do this and it would be nice for us to do it too.

There is a lot to the equation here. All things are not equal!

To know truly if your mods and setup are helping, ask a faster guy to drive your car and give you feedback on your setup. Minor adjustments can equal big improvements in handling.

I’ve done some repairs on my car this year, new tire model in use, and I’ve had to make adjustments to my setup to get the car feeling confident again. Last Saturday brought tire pressure and shock setting changes. Looking at my times, you can probably figure out when I did that.

Once you’re happy with the car, and take it out of the equation, you will work on the other things. Too many variables = inconsistency. I’m not one to go to car changes mid-event, but I was not happy with the car in my early runs.

They have other models too. I’m on my second one… I killed the first one lifting a pickup truck – not the jack’s fault.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch Mark drive, but I did watch Karlton. Holy smokes were you flying!

I am very impressed with the group we had out on Saturday. Everyone was on their game… the competition was fierce… course working and trailer ops went very smoothly… GGC really delivered the goods!

We had a few local visitors who came to see how we do it. They were blown away and will be joining us next month.
