The e36 M3’s have the front sway bar connect to the strut. A non-M e36 has the sway bar connect to the lower control arm and the stock strut doesn’t have a connection point for the sway bar. An aftermarket strut will probably be supplied with a sway bar connection spot for non-M’s.
You’ll be fine if your current front sway bar connects to the strut and not to the lower control arm.
