Dang… So fast. You ain’t messing around!
Not sure it matters, but I was driving a 2012 535i ZMP.
Thanks Jeff et al! Fun times as always. See you next month!
Henry LohKeymasterHuh. I don’t see any optionals
Henry LohKeymasterAwesome feedback! Setting those values was also a concern of mine. If I can find someone with experience dissecting diffs to help me out, I’m willing to give it a shot. If not, I’ll ‘pay the man his myoney’!
Thanks!
Henry
PS: It’s a 1991 318is – I WISH it was 160 hp!!!!
Henry LohKeymasterSweet! Thank you!
I’ve been trying to soak up as much infor as possible reading forum posts and trying to get the shopping list started. Here are a couple threads I’ve found helpful
http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1650106-The-E36-Diff-Thread

Based on the reading I’ve done, I think I will not do the Porsche 2.1mm dogear (apparently this will increase preload and can shorten the live of the internals). I plan on removing the 4mm spacer to add an extra dog ear and clutch disc to up the lockup.
Henry LohKeymasterCrap… never mind!!! Just re-read the schedule more carefully (did a search for “TDS” and not “top driver shootout” – thoroughness is not my forte. Durrrrrr……..
Ignore my ignorance!
Sorry…..
Henry LohKeymasterHey Jeff et al.
TDS question here.
Is there an update to the TDS format for this year? I noticed that the Stickied schedule, there is no TDS scheduled. Does this imply that we are sticking to the new format where TDS is based on the entire season’s performance? Just wanted to check so that I know whether or not to change my flight so I can make the Jun 27th event so I can keep in the running :o])
(addictions are bad, mmmmmkaaaaaaaaay)Thank you!!
Henry LohKeymasterWoohoo! Thank you, Brian. And thank you for letting me in your awesome ride! !!!!! My hands are still shaking from the adrenaline rush!
Henry LohKeymasterHow about a camera on an uber, 100ft selfie stick?
Henry LohKeymasterJeff, thank you for all the work we know you do as well as the additional work that most of us (or just I) can’t see.
Let’s hope your good karma pays off!
PS: Sorry I had to no-show Saturday. Hopefully someone was able to fill the spot.
Henry LohKeymasterHmmmm… I wish I looked that God.
The car you have listed for me was from a couple months ago. In back in my e30 318is with 37 points. That might change things!
Henry LohKeymasterSweet. Thanks! I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
Henry LohKeymasterDavid. Thanks again for volunteering your car. Much appreciated!! Had a chance to look under my car to see what was going on and uhhh…. I think the passenger side reaer axle partially popped out of the diff explains the noise and knocking!!! I just hope the Diff isn’t damaged…. Now to source a replacement axle. Yay! Can’t believe new is $300!!!!! Debating if it’s worth it.
Henry LohKeymasterThank you Brian et al.!
My last time of 68 looks like they never logged my rerun (when I had to stop for a novice cone worker who ran in front of me holding a rolled up flag…. :o/) . Doesn’t matter though since it wasn’t the fastest time I had. Thanks again to all for your work!
Henry LohKeymasterSweet! Thank you David! Hopefully Jeff & Crew won’t be too mad if/when I need to make registration changes. Man, it’s been TOO LONG since my last autocross… I can’t wait!
Hal, thanks for the offer. After this trip I probably won’t be able to afford professional installation :oP. Honestly, I’m one of those weirdos that loves getting my hands dirty to get an end product (plus, I learn more about suspension when I dive in and do it myself). It’s just unfortunate that I have so little time. What can I say? I love being able to say “Yeah, I did that” (usually preceded by a lot of cussing and asking “What the **** am I doing?!?!”).
I’m flying out of the country Saturday (to an Island cluster that likely wont have wifi) and returning on the 9th in LA (driving the Miata back to the Bay). I’m going to try to get back early Thursday, take a nap, and hopefully will have 1.5 days to get it done!
Henry LohKeymasterHmmm… yet another indecision impasse. I’ve decided on AKG subframe bushings (their softer, blue, 85a ones). Here’s the rub… $40 for their differential matching 85A diff bushing, or $135 for solid rubber (link below)?
http://store.vacmotorsports.com/bmw—z3m-z3-e30-m-rubber-differential-mount-bushing-p428.aspxHave not decided on RTABs yet – oem or AKG 85A.
