Hi Jack, I stopped coming to autocrosses when COVID hit, and I can see you haven’t posted lately about your shirts. But I just signed up for the January 29, 2023 event at Laguna Seca. Are you bringing any shirts to that event?
John, Car Control Clinics (CCC) are geared more towards drivers who have no prior high performance driving experience. The classroom session talks about all kinds of basic stuff – how to sit in the seat, how to hold the wheel, where and how to look as you drive, and an introduction to the exercises. The exercises let you explore weight transfer, both front/rear and side to side; emergency braking and lane changing. It is great for both new and more experienced drivers.
But wait, there’s more! If you have not had an opportunity to push your Mini to the limits, it is a great opportunity to do so in a controlled and safe setting before you get yourself into a competitive autocross situation or out on a track at a high performance driving school or track day. Also, GGC has ventured into the realm of the Advanced CCC for people who have already done some high performance driving, or might be interested in track events. Discuss with the CCC coordinators whether your experience is sufficient for ACCC, or if they’ll require you to take our CCC first.
Kind of answering my own question, it appears that my 10th place finish in event 7 was dropped, so now I’m more confused. Wouldn’t my no-points finish in September be the one to get dropped instead of my 1 point finish in October? Technically 0 is worse than 1. I still think attendance should count even if you don’t finish in the top 10, but hey, I’m just an old guy with an opinion.
Not that this matters, but it is nice to know that all the programs and formulas are working as expected. I attended the last 2 events (not including the TDS), but in the standings I was not credited with attendance (“0”) for Event 5. Standings show only my “0” for event 6.
Attendance points are supposed to count towards total season points, right? That’s how things seem to add up.

Rodger, thanks for letting us peek at the raw data. You credited me with someone else’s time, which, had I actually achieved it, would have been my fastest, and one of my other times was missing. Unfortunately, correcting these things won’t change my place in the results, which, frankly, sucked. But I’ll be back next month with a better idea of what my new beast can do. Had a blast Saturday, thanks to you and all the others who do all the stuff behind the scenes that takes more time than most people know. We all appreciate your collective efforts.
Hope it’s not too late to get my shirt – I finally bought a car and I’ve signed up for September. Look for car 4 if you’ve forgotten what I look like. And if you’re out of larges, a medium might work.
