On a side note, not sure if anyone else with a BMW Apps equipped car used the new M LapTimer that BMW just put out.
It’s fairly awesome, uses the cars GPS and sensors to build a nifty little data acquisition map.
Tracks, speed, steering, throttle %, brakes (as g-force deceleration), RPM, g-force, & MPG
It did a fairly decent job of mapping the track layout as well using the car’s GPS.
I was wondering if anyone had tried that yet. The apps I’ve seen so far seem to work better for track loops than for AX.Andy DanielsParticipant
And who would that be? Sorry, don’t have everyone’s avatar memorized here.
Sorry, thought I’d already set up my forum sig.Andy Daniels, #793. My time slip for run 5 says +3, and in the video I’ve clearly taken out at least two cones during my spin after the finish line. Doesn’t change any standings or my best time, though, so not that big a deal.
Andy DanielsParticipantNot that it really makes any substantial difference, but I’m pretty sure that my +1 was actually a +3.
Andy DanielsParticipant
Since the course is different every time, the standard of comparison has to be how many seconds slower I am compared to the better drivers.
Since each course is different, I suggest looking at the ratios of your times to those of the better drivers (or, equivalently, the difference of their logarithms) instead of raw time differences. That will better account for the differences in overall length and difficulty of the courses.
Or maybe how consistent or inconsistent my runs are.
Also good. At my level of experience, I’m happy if I see a consistent improvement in times throughout the day and look for consistency of line in the videos afterwards. Then, I look at my overall standing for the day and get depressed. 🙁Andy DanielsParticipant
I was definitely struggling around this course. I called it my nemesis.
This novice was encouraged when I discovered that the old hands were also having trouble figuring out the course. It was deceptively straightforward-looking on paper.
Andy DanielsParticipantI enjoyed both this month’s and last month’s courses. Very different problems to solve in the two of them, of course. Don’t know what this might say about the two designs, but I did notice that I wasn’t nearly as tired afterwards as I was the month before.
