Andy DanielsParticipant
More importantly, the site rules have changed dramatically. The Airport manager is inspecting the site before the event, and again after.
More FAA fallout?
Andy DanielsParticipantJames got a nice shot of my M6, but for some reason I really like Mark’s picture of the Lime Rock Park M3 with a bunch of cones and other debris under it.
Andy DanielsParticipantI started just a little wider on the entry and turned in earlier so I hugged the inside as it went uphill. The off camber angle pushed me just wide enough to the right to make the entry into the slalom the perfect approach.
Hmph. And there I was, trying to avoid that nasty-looking negative camber and sliding around on the gravel instead. 🙁
February 19, 2014 at 3:55 pm in reply to: 2/23/14 Candlestick – Need Help With Tech Inspections #5726Andy DanielsParticipantAssuming that you don’t need me as a “buddy,” I can do tech.
[edit] Oops. Just got your e-mail about the former. I can probably manage both, though, if you can’t round up enough inspectors.
Andy DanielsParticipantIf they’re sized the same as last year’s, then a 2XL for me and a M for Dana, please.
You’d mentioned to me that you were thinking of doing a long-sleeved shirt this year. Did you decide to stick with short sleeves?
Andy DanielsParticipantJohn, we’ve got Dunlop Direzza ZII tires on the M3 these days. They’re the current version of what used to be called “Star Specs.”
Andy DanielsParticipantOK. I’ll clip out the relevant parts tonight and get them to you. There are no visible time stamps in the videos, but they do have internal time stamps in the MPEG wrapper.
Andy DanielsParticipantA camper with trailered bike thing parked in front of an open hangar shows up many of our RG1 videos. In one of them, there’s a guy fussing with the bike. There’s also a yellow car that comes and goes. They were already there for the first run of the day (ca. 10 AM), but are gone by Dana’s 11:03 run. Don’t have anything of the bike/ATV/whatever in action, though. Let me know if any of that footage might be useful.
Andy DanielsParticipantBTW its bmwfans.info
Oops. Absolutely right. I’d edit my post to correct that, but I can’t find a way to do so on this new WordPress-based forum.
Their gaudy interface is pretty new. The older version of the site (still accessible) was a bit more sedate. I use them both—RealOEM’s text-based view is nicer on slow links and small screens.
Andy DanielsParticipantIf you’re ever in doubt, you can double check this kind of thing at realoem.com. Look up your car, find the part number as it applies to your model, then backtrack to the first page and paste that number into the part # application search. Pretty handy way to find cross-reference parts!
Somewhat OT, but anyway… The parts catalog at bmwfans.com is even handier for this. It links directly from the part diagrams to the part details, including usage.
Andy DanielsParticipantI’m not holding my breath.
Andy DanielsParticipantIt’s not too late to change your vote!
Andy DanielsParticipantJune’s course isn’t my personal favorite, but I wouldn’t mind taking another crack at it. Maybe I’ll be able to catch my spectacular slide through the cones in the far corner on video this time 😀
Any word from the FAA yet?
Andy DanielsParticipantAndy DanielsParticipantI used the direct link in yesterday’s e-mail invitation and didn’t have any problems. Try that.
