Andy DanielsParticipant
Tha link to the map is messed up for me. There seems to be an extra ‘h’ at the beginning of the URL. Here’s a corrected URL for those who might have the same problem: http://ggcbmwcca.org/new_html/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/20141217-ggcAutoxCourseMap-FINAL.png

Andy DanielsParticipantYeah. The apex cone at the left turn out of the box along the back side got placed way too far out. Someone pointed this out early in run gp. 3, but I guess that never got fixed. I also noticed that some of the cone workers more or less stopped retrieving down cones durig the last few runs of the day.
Andy DanielsParticipantNot sure that tweak will avert much cone carnage—to me it looks like it’s asking folks to overcook it—but it ought to shave a tenth or so off my times.
Andy DanielsParticipantI suspect they’re still working on the where of it.
Andy DanielsParticipantHmm… Despite my riding along in an X* earlier this year, the AX page says: “We do not allow SUV/SAV vehicles to participate…” I must’ve been confusing the AX rules with CCC. Cayennes and a Macan have showed up pretty regularly at the PCA AX this year, however.
Andy DanielsParticipantSadly, everyone else improved much more than I did once the rain stopped.
Andy DanielsParticipantIIRC, any of the BMW X-things are OK, as are Porsche SUVs. I rode along in one of the smaller ones during the fun run at Candlestick earlier this year.
Andy DanielsParticipantHow many points for a D 636 Z engine?
Andy DanielsParticipantI don’t have personal experience with the PSS tires, but a tread wear rating of 300 suggests to me that you’re probably right about their stickiness, or lack thereof.
We’ve been running Dunlop ZIIs for the last two seasons and have been reasonably happy with them. I’ve heard mixed opinions on the new Star Spec that replaces them, but it looks like the older model is still available.
Andy DanielsParticipantI’m all for anything that gets you out of A class, Brad. 😛
Andy DanielsParticipantRumor is once someone was seen trying to skate and eat a cookie at the same time during a car control clinic. This is potentially confusing to drivers so should not be tolerated.
The red and green flags flying behind this rumored skater were spectacular, however. 😉
Andy DanielsParticipantIt’ll be interesting to see how this recall develops as more and more cars get drawn into it. The manufacturer is reportedly having trouble keeping up with demand for replacement units, with some people being denied appointments to have the work done because of lack of stock.
Andy DanielsParticipantThanks for the reminder, Tim.
This airbag recall has been popping up in the news from time to time for months. IIRC, BMW announced it back in July or so and supposedly sent out notifications to the owners of affected cars. I remember seeing the announcement in the CCA weekly e-newsletter and also in the Roundel a couple of issues ago.
Andy DanielsParticipantNot terribly surprising. It sold out in under a day last year (and the first day’s not over yet).
Andy DanielsParticipantLooks challenging. Too bad Dana and I will miss this one.
