Andy DanielsParticipant
Hmmm… Where did I hit a cone on my 6th run? I don’t remember hitting anything during that run (I’ll own all the others) and neither I nor the time slip writer heard any cones called at the time. Late call?
Andy DanielsParticipantGreat course, Jack! Fast and tricky to get right.
Andy DanielsParticipantLooks like Dana might’ve gotten somebody else’s time for her last run. According to her time slips, that one was about a 49.2 instead of something in the 45s. Would’ve been awesome to have really gotten a time like that in the crappy rental Focus!
Andy DanielsParticipantI seem to recall something being mentioned among all of the other stuff in the MSR forms about proxy registrations not being allowed. I’d guess that this would count as such.
If some random person who’s not on the list shows up at the event, they don’t drive. The registration materials are quite adamant about that. Your slot is registered to your MSR profile. How would you physically accomplish the transfer to someone else?
Andy DanielsParticipantCool! I’ll let Jeff decide which group to stick me in. See you Saturday.
Andy DanielsParticipantChris,
If that offer’s still good, I’ll take that seat next weekend. Do you want to run in the same group—hot tires, but lots of fiddling with the harness?
Andy DanielsParticipantThanks, Chris! I’ll let you know early next week if I’ll be taking advantage of your offer.
Dana’s a big girl and can fend for herself 🙂 She’s sharing Lula’s car at LPR this weekend, but I don’t know if she’s got a plan for GGC yet.
Andy DanielsParticipantThanks, Nigel. That 50.1 would’ve been good enough for fifth place, I believe. There might be hope for me yet. It didn’t hurt that Zebedee is set up very nicely and is easy to drive a result. I really should’ve been able to break 50 in that car, though. So much still to work on…
Andy DanielsParticipantIf that first section flowed, I never found it.
For me, the key was nailing both hairpins. Blowing the first one screws up the entry to the central slalom, and going deep/wide on the second doesn’t get you anything—you just waste a lot of time driving out and back.
Andy DanielsParticipantWe should lobby them to bring their “Challenge School” (formerly Phase 3) up here.
Andy DanielsParticipantNo FAA signoff yet, I suppose. Guess I’ll have to do some karting to feed the need.
Andy DanielsParticipantThank, Peter! That certainly explains why the light cone lingered long after the apparent source had moved on.
Andy DanielsParticipantIs the course layout going to be a surprise?
Andy DanielsParticipant“I didn’t care.” Hah! I have to wonder why he keeps AXing with that particular club if doing so is driving him to apoplexy. Surely there are other opportunities to drive wherever he is. Why keep doing something that leaves you that angry and frustrated?
On the other hand, if whoever is running those AXes is going to be that casual about cones out of the box, then they shouldn’t be chalking them that tightly. Those lines are right up against the bases of the cones.
Anyway, from his comments in the video and the written comments, I strongly suspect that cones aren’t the real issue, but only a symptom of his problems with that group.
Andy DanielsParticipantBrian, do Dana and I at least get a point for showing up for AX5? That was the one in which I broke the car during our first runs, so neither of us got a time that counted.
