    We all just got back from SoCal and saw how they run. Very different philosophy with cone usage and transitions. The courses may have been larger but the flow into the elements was smooth and wide lanes to choose a line.

    Fully prepped cars make the best data points because the PAX number is fully exploited. You then have to add up the points…

    We made two changes after the BMWCCA event and Praneil feels that after Oakland’s SCCA event we have her dialed in but the adjusted times are skewed dramatically.

    Maybe…

    Your car is more like an under prepared STU class car at .846. To be competitive in class you need the engine mods and lightening. Light exhaust, headers, a tune, light weight seats.

    You were 5.993% slower than Justin using the STX to STU PAX adjustments. Your 50.276 raw time adjusts to a 48.770 in the BMWCCA system but to equal SCCA it should have been a 49.398 or 88 points instead of 80 points.

    Your example is tough because the car is not prepped to the highest levels within the SCCA class.

    SCCA has thousands of samples throughout the year from all classes. Every year the class pAX value is changed based on the last years outcome. At the National level the top 100 cars might be separated by an adjusted .5 seconds. Their goal is to handicap the entire field for the same adjusted time. AAS and UFO use the same PAX system as well. I calculate based on Praneil and Justin’s times our BSP car should have 97 points instead of 106. That would give the win to Justin by the same percentage as the SCCA index.

    These are two very prepared cars for BSP (mine) and STX (Justin/Mack)

    SCCA Index (PAX)
    BSP .858
    STX .827

    When you compare the adjustments they should be pretty close but they’re not…

    BMWCCA = -1.794
    SCCA = -.881

    Number Points Actual Adjusted time SCCA
    Hal 106 47.796 48.398 41.009
    Dave 95 48.767 48.493 41.842
    Justin 74 48.522 46.605 40.128
    Praneil 106 47.074 47.667 40.389

    Points system needs to be tweaked…

    Thanks but Praneil beat us all. Two more changes to make and Olivia should be done. SCCA Nationals here we come.

    The first circle should be 1 g. The datalogger is extrapolating though.

    Here is the original split video of Praneil and me with grip and speed data…That’s a lot of information to process for me. I think the video alone is adequate.

    GGR does a three run group system: Red, Blue and Green. They rotate through twice and do 10+ runs everytime. NO lunch and hot cutovers.

    I am also trying to put data on the split video. He nipped off a .10th at every major element.

    It’s just a QStarz 1000e 5hz datalogger, ContourHD1080P and RaceRenderII software to sync them all together.
