January 10, 2013 at 11:24 pm #1329Rob PowersParticipantInteresting.. the 235/40-17 are pricey compared to the Z1s (like >$20 more per tire). I wonder if it’s a volume thing since that size is also $10 more per tire than 255/40-17 ZIIs.
Might be time to finally pull the trigger on those 17×9″ wheels when I get my next set of tires…

I run 245/40/17 on 8.5″ wheels… perfect match on the Z1’s and should be on the Z2’s.
More popular sizes are cheaper even if they are larger.
January 11, 2013 at 3:33 am #1332Rob PowersParticipantUnfortunately the stock wheels on the 95 M3 are a 17×7.5 square set-up, so I can’t go wider than 235 with those. And if I’m going to go wider, I may as well go for as much rubber as I can fit under the fenders, so 9″ it will be!
January 11, 2013 at 3:57 am #1333Hal DortonParticipantLet me know what you guys need. I can get the 255/40-17s for $165ea plus $51 to ship a set from Reno. I can bring them down to Marina or you can pick them locally.

Notice the wet lap data.
January 12, 2013 at 1:48 am #1344Eric RiesParticipantgood stuff, thanks Jeff. Can’t wait to get a set of these on the Z4 🙂
January 12, 2013 at 2:33 am #1345Hal DortonParticipantWe use the Star Specs for wet work at autocross and on the track. Never let us down.
January 14, 2013 at 6:58 am #1354MarcParticipantFinally! I’ve been waiting for these to hit the US. Now I can pull the trigger on the wheels/tires I’ve had my eyes on :woohoo:
If anyone is in need of Apex wheels, there’s a group buy happening. See link below:January 14, 2013 at 10:38 am #1356Tony HollandParticipantNice to know I will have replacements when the Z1s are gone.
January 14, 2013 at 8:53 pm #1357Mark MervichParticipantThat explains why I had so much trouble getting Z1’s 2 or 3 weeks ago.
MarkJanuary 15, 2013 at 1:34 am #1359Simon BelotserkovskyParticipantI’m interested to see how these tires (Z2) will take heat. Z1 were not very good with heat tolerance.

Hal – looks like they made them this time for my car..almost. All the specs look good except the overall diameter vs the OEM. They’re 0.6″ larger, so 3 tenths on each side. Is that significant?
The sizes I’m looking at are for my 19 inch rims (8″ and 9′ width respectively): 245/35 and 275/30. How much can you get them for?
January 17, 2013 at 7:02 am #1379MarcParticipantisfnfast – I don’t think you’d want to run 275’s on a 9″ wheel. The tire will really be ballooned on it and will sacrifice performance. If you can fit a 10″ wheel, that’s the ideal wheel width for a 275.
