July 25, 2023 at 9:21 pm #11187William StanawayParticipantSo how is the formula for PAX calculated? Please explain in simple terms for my simple mind. What is base line what is adjusted value per car points?
July 28, 2023 at 10:49 am #11188Efrain AlersParticipantAs far as I understand PAX is sort of a handicap or theoretical best time multiplier assigned to each car/class allowing for multiple cars/classes to compete against each other under one group. is the ideal place where a a slow car can evenly compete against a fast car in equal footing.
I don’t play golf but I’ve been told it’s like a golf’s handicap.July 30, 2023 at 4:02 pm #11189Grant MahlerParticipantHi Bill,
The formula looks like this:
Adjusted Time = ((60/59.901)^points) * (Raw Time) * 0.85
This formula has been used as long as I have been around. It was derived empirically to balance out points vs elapsed time.
Some things to note:
More points means higher adjusted time
Less points means lower adjusted timeThe goal of this is to keep all the vehicles within a class (e.g. A, B, C, Gonzo) roughly comparable.
I hope that helps.
